It's hard to believe it has been almost a year and a half since my last update. Since then, many more bots have found their way into my collection. In fact, there are so many, that I had to put the majority of the collection into storage for a while! I am hoping to put a high shelf all around the top of my wall this spring. With all that additional space, I can get out all the toys in boxes right now. It should be a great look, but in the meantime, I just cherry picked and have out my absolute favorite stuff.

This collection isn't one of those toy store looking MISB types, nor is it a "wall of transformers in a bookshelf" setup. I wanted to keep it looking fairly normal, well, at least as normal as it can be for a 33 year old man to have a bunch of toys! I think I reached a pretty happy medium with the toys and all the other stuff in the room.

Here is a wide angle view of my desk. Can you tell I kinda like that Optimus Prime fella? I also like his repaints, too, as you can see by the collection of Scourge/Nemesis/Dark Primes on the left, and all the variations of Ultra Magnus on the right.
Below are the individual shelves on this side of the room.

Posted Image

A couple interesting pieces are on this shelf. My prized possession, Star Convoy, I won in a contest at the Allspark. (Thank you JRS Toyworld!) In the middle is the small Energon OP from the TRU 2 pack, but combined with the regular Energon Prime's drones. It displays well, but it very wobbly. On the right is the sweet yellow repaint of RiD Prime, a Christmas gift from my in-laws! How cool is that? ;)

Posted Image

I kept to a theme here, with Primes in flight mode. All of these are pretty cool, IMO, but my favorite of the three would have to be "tuxedo" Cybertron Prime combined with Wing Saber. The colors just go together very well! My son got Optimal Optimus for me as a gift, and though I am generally a trukk guy, I pick up the occasional munky here or there.

Posted Image

Here's what I have of Prime's brother/old friend/rival Ultra Magnus. I realize people complain about Magnus repaints often, but I think the color scheme looks nice. He is totally deserving of his own toy though; I wish there were more like RiD Ultra Magnus. I look forward to a new mold Ultra Magnus in Animated.

Posted Image

On this shelf, I pretty much kept it just G1. That's a 20th Prime in the back, standing on the base from the DVD Prime. I still don't have an original G1 Prime, but my TRU reissue does just fine for now. The ever to be adored THS-02 is in the front, within easy fiddling distance. I like his trailer, since it's so small I can actually display it! Also check out the awesome Movie Prime snowglobe, it lights up like a disco ball!

Posted Image

This side of the desk is pretty much "Prime's Greatest Hits". All of these I consider to be some of the best Primes in my collection. Leader Movie Prime is a sight to behold. G2 Laser Prime is the toy my 6 year old picks up to play with the most, and who can blame him? Bendy Prime is the mold so great, I bought it 5 times! And Classics Voyager Prime is beyond cool. Alt Prime, though not as great as the others on this shelf, has a fantastic truck mode, though he is a bit bland in bot mode. Oh yes, I should mention the vehicle mode Primes here aren't the "greatest", they just filled the spots nicely. :)

Posted Image

On this side are the dark repaints. You have your Scourges, your Nemesis Primes, and because the color scheme fits in well here, Nightwatch Prime. The main omission over here is THS-02B. I really want that, just haven't had the extra cash to pick it up yet. I'm hoping to see a Classics Nemesis Prime over here someday, as well.

More continued below!

The rest of the Transformers displayed in my room, updated 02/18/08:

Posted Image

Here is a shot of the corner of my room. On the wall are a Transtech Optimus Prime print, the postcards that came in my G1 DVD set, a "neon" Autobot symbol (too bad it was pink not orange) and the enormous OP Flypaper. On the left of the photo, you can see my MAME arcade cabinet, based on Q*Bert. It blends in well with all the "Prime"-ary colors. Close ups of the shelves here are below.

Posted Image

Can you find the munkys amid the trukks? I don't go all out for Beast formers, but these were easily available, and they look pretty good too. My personal favorite mold of Prime, the Cyberton version, rules over this shelf. That toy is the bee's knees, eh? Optimus Supreme is on the right, though I wish I had found Omega Sentinel instead. A G2 Hero Prime is hiding towards the left, and the sweet battle damaged Movie Voyager Prime is on the right, all John Woo double gun style.

Posted Image

Just a couple pieces here. The few boxes I have saved are on these shelves, for now. I just couldn't bring myself to throw away the cool Japanese packaging, and the Pepsi Prime box is fun too. Armada OP drags along Overload and Jetfire along the top shelf. "Superpants" was pretty weak for a super mode, but you can't deny that the toy is pretty impressive in truck mode, especially towing his buddies along behind him.

Posted Image

This is a view of of the opposite wall of my room. I have some unique shelving here, some stuff I bought to hold games and DVDs in, but it really made a nice looking display for my G1 Transformers. There are a few miscellaneous Prime toys on the bookshelf below, like candy toys and such.

Posted Image

Here are the big boys. When I get more shelving up later, the big guys will have to move, but for now they look imposing on top. Masterpiece SS is a really, really nice piece. I hope MP Skywarp and maybe even Thundercracker make it over here as well, someday. My 13 year old son collects Megatrons and Galvatrons to balance with my Primes, and with the recent downsizing he had to keep it to one shelf. I think he did a nice job of displaying them. The 5 year old chose to keep out all the movie toys. He loves Bumblebee, like all good little kids do! I experimented with putting the TF Movie wall trim on these shelves. I'm not really pleased with the result, it looks too "busy" now.

Here is a close up of all the G1 stuff I have, save the Prime and Magnus on my desk.

Posted Image

The perennial favorite line of most adult collectors, Alternators. I mostly kept to buying homages of season 1 Autobots, but there are a few favorites like Tracks and Hot Rod I liked as well. Ricochet and Rollbar were on clearance, and I couldn't resist picking them up. Oddly enough, my wife loves Rollbar. Maybe we need to get a Jeep! DVD Prime and the feet of Softimus Prime are visible on the top shelf here as well.

Posted Image

Top half of G1 collection. Most of these were my own way back when. Some I have picked up over the past 5 years or so, including Mirage, Trailbreaker, and Skywarp. There are a few reissues here; one of the Prowls and the Starscream are reissues, and the Cliffjumper, Bumblebee, and Windcharger are the key chain versions, minus the key chain. These toys are all in well played with condition, for the most part! For the curious, on the top, I put a junker Laser OP in my reissue's box, along with the reissue's trailer. I just don't have space to display all the trailers that come with Primes.

Posted Image

On this bottom half, the reissues are Soundwave, along with Ravage and Laserbeak, and Jazz. I totally hate what they did to poor Jazz's weapons, and plan to get originals soon. The blue Bumblebee was a Botcon exclusive, IIRC, and blends in well here. Sideswipe, Hound, and Wheeljack were more recent finds, and the rest were mine when I was just a little Transfan in the 80s!

I'm very close to one of my personal goals, which is to have all the original 1984 Transformers. Right now I am lacking Ratchet, Ironhide, Huffer, Thundercracker, Buzzsaw, Ravage, and Frenzy. With the Encore versions of Ratchet and Ironhide now available, I'd say possibly within a year, I will reach this goal. It will be a very exciting moment, for sure! There are a few more plans I have as well, though they are more long term, like finishing the Alternators set, and possibly even the 1985 toys. Of course there will be new lines to hunt down as well. Overall I am quite pleased with my stuff!

I hope you enjoyed looking at my collection. It isn't as large as some, certainly, but keep in mind the majority of our figures are put away at the moment. Any and all comments are of course always welcome!

Edit: original post moved here.

Hello, folks. First post to this forum, but I've been a lurker for several months now, and after looking at some of the great collections you all have, I wanted to share my collection.

Before I show the pictures, I have to tell a story. Back in '84, I was totally addicted to Transformers. I watched the cartoon every day on the Bozo Show, and I'd talk about it with friends on the way to school. I had the cool red Transformers lunchbox (what I'd give to have one now). My little brother had decided to collect the "bad guys", and so I got only Autobots. I had a red Bumblebee, Prowl, Sunstreaker, and many more, but one was so expensive I had to wait until Christmas...

I wanted Optimus Prime so bad!

When the JC Penney catalog arrived, I frantically looked and there he was, in all his primary-colored glory. My brother asked for Megatron of course, and I dreamed of the battles we'd have. I listened secretly as my Mom ordered the toys, and cackled in glee! The greatest Autobot would be mine!

Christmas Day came, and I frantically opened presents, looking for Optimus. But none of the boxes looked to be the right size! I tore open the last box, and saw another Prowl! I looked up in shock. My brother was ripping into his Megatron, whooping in delight. My dad explained that Penney's had called and that Optimus was sold out, but if they got more stock in, they'd send one. He knew I had busted the windshield off of my Prowl (who hasn't?) and that he was a favorite of mine, so he bought me one to replace it. I know there were other Transformers for me that day too, that I cannot remember, but the memory still haunts me.

My mom tells me for months I'd see a UPS truck and say "hey maybe my Optimus Prime is in there!" Alas, I never got one. Months flew past and by Christmas '85 I was into G.I. Joe.

Now, in my adult life, I feel compelled to purchase Optimus Primes. It all began when Toys'R'Us reissued Prime, and when I told my parents, they laughed and gave me money to get him! My two sons, ages 10 and 3, definitely benefit from this obsession as well, since what is Optimus without some other TFs to play with? But the Primes, I save for myself.

So, here is my collection. My criteria are, if it looks like Optimus, or is a character called Optimus Prime (no Primals!), it must be mine!

I welcome any comments and opinions, as well as ideas for other cool Primes and such to add to my collection, that don't cost an arm and a leg!

cool set up. i see you used most of optimus's rear section in omega prime. you can us the ladder as an arm mounted launcher as well, but you may want to hold in on the arm with one of those clear rubber elastic bands that the figures are packaged with. i use them all the time in my displays....and yes my omega prime's launcher is held on that way too.

Thanks for the complements, guys.

I never thought to use those clear rubber bands! I hated how the ladder kept falling off. Now I'll have to run out and buy a new TF for some of the bands. ;)

The yellow RiD Optimus was a gift from my mother-in-law, of all people. My wife gave me hints that it was big, yellow, and transformed. I thought it would be an Armada Unicron, imagine my delight when I was wrong!

I just dug out a box of some of my old G1 stuff, I'll try to post pics this weekend!

I'm working on a Prime display myself, and this includes some Primals, if I can find any. I'm looking for COMPLETE, or at least mostly complete Primes. G1, G2, PM, Laser Rod, Universe RiD repaint, Powerlinx, orignal Gorilla Primal, Go-Bots Prime, TM Primal, Optimal Optimus (mine's broken :tfsad ), and some of the others. I can probably get myself a God Ginrai once I save up enough money to get it from Toywiz. :clap Almost there personally. :clap :clap

Now thats a PRIME collection. I've been thinking of doing this myself since Optimus is my all time favorite TF. But those darn BT/ALTS always get in the way and I just keep adding those to my collection.

Ok, so I got a few new TFs over the past couple months.  You can see all of them in the picture below.  First was a G1 Ultra Magnus, which I got just to display without his armor.  I also picked up an Alt. Meister, which looks threatening next to my monitor.  Just this past Monday I received the Armada Powerlinx Optimus Prime and Nemesis Prime.  I stole some minicons from my kids that I thought matched PL OP quite nicely!  I must say though, I hate the redeco on his trailer/legs.  The black just doesn't fit and would be much nicer if it were the same blue as the arms.  Oh well, I guess I need to get a Powerlinx Jetfire to take its place... ;)  Anyone have one laying around?

I tried attaching the ladder arm and all the other pieces to my RiD Omega Prime.  It was pretty cool, but threw the whole balance of the figure off.  He kept leaning way over, so I removed the extra parts, put it in base mode, and went back to "lean and mean" Omega Prime (he's still pretty fat, really).  I also stole the Requiem Blaster from my kids for Armada Super Optimus as you can see below...
