Movie toy scales
John 14:6
- Yesterday, 12:49 PM - 3 comments
I've been thinking of what movie toys are good to display with each other as far as scale goes. There are really no absolute scales, so I have in my mind a "bigger" scale and a "smaller" scale since some characters have toys in two different scales. Then there's also a Human Alliance scale. I'm going to try and list as many of the toys as I can think of, hopefully this will make more sense...
BIGGER
Leader Primes, Megatrons, Starscream, Brawl
Voyage Ironhide and Ratchet
deluxe Bumblebee and other cars
SMALLER
Supreme Devastator
Leader Jetfire
Voyager Primes, Megatrons, Starscreams
The Fallen
Bludgeon
Blackout and Grindor
voyager jets
Constructicons except for Demolisher
deluxe jets
deluxe Brawl, Ironhide, and Ratchet
deluxe Soundwave, Bonecrusher, Wreckage
HUMAN ALLIANCE
Human Alliance toys
deluxe Ravage (Bumblebee was able to lift and hold him apart in the movie)
deluxe Arcee and Chromia (they're too big for this line, so definitely too big for the others)
scout Doctor (see Arcee and Chromia, only he fits here much better)
legends Wheelie (see Arcee and Chromia, only he fits here much better)
LEGENDS
Legend toys execpt for Wheelie
voyager Stratosphere and Demolisher
I appreciate any input
I'll openly display toys from different "scale groups" together, but I try to separate them appropriately when I can...
EDIT: Adding a "Legends" scale

Bumblebee #4 is a cut above the it's predecessors. More action, more story, more Skywarp Can the teleportation happy Seeker save this series from the doldrums? Can a last issue climax cram save Bumblebee's first outing as leader from it's lackluster beginnings? Come find out here in our full review.

Yeah there's that soldier who changed his name to Optimus Prime, I think there's anotherguy who switched his to Megatron. How cool would a Megatron from birth be though
I know if I had a kid, I'd name him Kool Keg Pete, unless it was a girl then I'd go with Lily, but this true chance at inflicted awesome is one we can not pass up.
Not only would a kid be called Megatron, but Optimus can suck it

Alternity Drift. This guy I've had complete for a while sitting on the shelf. I got around to adding the graphics on his doors. Thanks to Iris/C2567 for the help on the Japanese text : katakana ドリフト ("drift") Red graphics were stenciled and painted. White and red on alt mode are a super high gloss and VERY tough (must have been ideal climate conditions the day it was painted)Head's from a Cybertron Override, slightly modified. Added some articulated hands (Thanks Ptitvite) and custom made swords (thickened up the blades and chromed them with Alclad) I also tinted the insides of the windows with a Now, he's ready to make sushi out of Bludgeon ;)Full gallery of photo can be seen here : http://www.flickr.co...57623456540165/View the Custom Gallery Here

Just came to a realization...about the new TF Discovery partnership
Reluttr
- 03-07-10 22:37 - 5 comments
Lets take a moment to think about what Discovery currently shows on Discovery Kids... Kenny the Shark, Tutinstein, Darcys Wild Life, The Saddle Club, Bendy the Jungle Girl and so on. *only ones I could think of at the time*
Now what do all of these have in common? The majority involve Nature and Animals, but keep in mind that there are also shows that involve historical topics.
Now what TF already existing franchise's specialize in said area's?
Beast Wars
Now here is the thing, I am assuming that all of the shows will be educational in a roundabout way. That being said, BW is a perfect fit in that they could give "tech specs" to the beast forms that are in reality fun facts about the animal. With the maximals for example they could show why cheetors alt form is so fast, why optimus is so strong, or why dinobot is such a skilled fighter. With the predicons they could show why how tarantulus makes his traps, how scorponok delevers his venom, or why megatrons bite is devastating.
Now I suppose that they could use a version of alternity "time traveling TF's", or have a version of classics that explains robots/mechanics. But Beastwars seems like the best fit, because it already has an established fanbase and quite a few of new parents probably grew up watching BW as kids.
What do you guys think?

I know that a lot of sense of humorless people didn't like the movie..
but come on, one thing i think we all have to agree on is that the visual effects in the movie were truly incredibly.
i don't understand how, or why rotf wasn't even nominated in the visual effects catagory.. there were only three nominations, district 9, star trek, and obviously avatar. .. and in my opinion rotf beats them all. to me it's easier to just throw cg characters into a cg world, but to have them react with the real world, react with humans, transform, combine, blow up, and react within a completely cg world.. how does that not win? i mean, they were so well done that they looked very real. hell, the first time i saw sam slam the matrix into primes chest, i figured that that was a working model.. not just a foam (or whatever) prime resembling block.
anyways.. i was just wondering if you guys had any answers, or what you guys think, especially what the people who didn't like the movie thought of the visuals (not the robot designs, just the VFX)

Wanted: TF 3D Battlecards series 1
Robowang
- 03-07-10 16:35 - 0 comments
Hi! I'm still looking for Transformers 3D Battlecards series 1 cards, still attached to sprue (or with nice sprue I can put pieces back into). They don't have to be unpunched, but I definitely need the sprues. I need Bumblebee, Jazz, Ironhide, Ratchet, and Starscream. These are the NON-Protoform versions. I have lots of Battlecards to trade, other TF cards, or even some actual toys and GIJoe figures. Or I can just buy these off you
Please email robo_wang_@_yahoo.com without the underscores if you have these available! Thanks!

This is a custom I've had a strange itching to do for a long time. I got a nice quality "Train team" combiner set from China several months ago. It was blocky and weak. I went to town adding articulation to- the shoulders- upper arms (rotating at bicep)- elbows- wrists- hands- head (on ball joint)- hips- upper legs (rotation above knee)- better knees (stock sucked)- feet (pivot at heel)Had a blast painting the bazillion details on the three trains; Thomas (blue) Percy (green) and Hiro (black)...Got some great bonus add-ons coming this week, gotta hit up the local train/hobby shop.
